Good thread. Small potatoes, but what are 69 owners take on the overall finish and how it holds up? Not that it's a deal breaker for me as I put myself in the "tool wear" category, but would have preferred it in a different SS finish and am considering the 69 or 66 currently. Ruger came out with a .44 Special GP100 with a 3" barrel. I like the GP100's Ive owned 2 of them in .357 magnum. Sold one and still have the other. I have a 4" stainless one. I would like to get a 3" one maybe in down the line. (Just like the size). This new Ruger is a 5 shot .44 Spl. with slightly different aesthetics (i like it). I have an SP-01 Shadow Custom that I use for USPSA production. The SP-01s are all steel other than the phantom. The P-01s are polymer. The only difference in the shadow is they don't instal a firing pin safety so it's similar to a series 70 1911 vs the Series 80. GP 2010 R2 is the same as GP 2010 SP 2. The only difference is the GP 2010 R2 media allows you to install Business Analyzer and the new module Date Effective Tax Rates. Other than that R2 and SP2 are the exact same including build number. It wasn't like my 6" barrel GP100 had a lot of recoil in the first place, but with the factory Hogue grip you could still feel it a bit when shooting hot .357 loads; with this, for the first time ever, I've actually found a setup that is legitimately PLEASANT to shoot .357's in high volumes (like 100+ rounds). I have both and love them.. I think you need 2 guns though as the GP is a bit harder to conceal, but is a great shooter.. The SP is a little tough on your hands shooting the 357 loads, so i use them mainly for carry, shoot some at the range for practice but shoot mostly the 38sp loads at the range.
