This statistic represents the change in the price of goods and services purchased by consumers, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco. As it is on-the-spot data, it tends to have a significant impact. This figure is released 15 days before the actual core CPI index.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the change in the price of goods and services from the perspective of the consumer. It is a key way to measure changes in purchasing trends and inflation.

Eurostat reported that February year over year Euro area CPI (Consumer Price Index) rose 2 percent versus a rise of 1.8 percent in January.
